Jamesport Brewing Company - Ludington

Jamesport Brewing Company – Ludington

Last summer we camped at Ludington State Park. As is par for the course in the summer, the park was packed. We still had a fantastic time and got to do a lot of hiking (future post coming) and exploring in the area. On our way north to the campground, we drove into town to see if the S.S. Badger was in port (it wasn’t). On our way through town, Allison suddenly spotted a man walking on the sidewalk with a growler – which led us to lunch and some amazing beer at the Jamesport Brewing Company.

Located at 410 S. James St., the brewpub had a great atmosphere and was mildly busy for the lunch hour. We sat in the covered patio area (there is also an outdoor patio) due to some earlier rain showers, and had the place almost to ourselves. One look at a menu and we were hopeful of filling up with some great food and beer.

We got a sampler flight of beer that included, above from left, the Dry Stout, Nitro Stout, Blueberry Wheat, Apricot Wheat and an IPA. Allison loved the two fruit beers, I found the IPA to be decent and was impressed with the creamy finish of the nitro stout. We got pints after this to try a few more beers, with Allison loving the Highland Apple Strong and me finding a winner with the Badger Brown. We ended up bringing home a growler for our collection as well, filled with Badger Brown.

Allison went with the Bacon Grilled Cheese Panini, and really enjoyed it. It’s a good-sized meal, and I ended up getting to help finish it.

We’ve found great beer and great food on our trips, but they aren’t always in the same place like this. This was a great find and definitely a place worthy of a repeat visit when we get back to Ludington.
