Photo Gallery Friday is a regular feature on Travel the Mitten that will help showcase photos from places where a few pictures just aren’t enough to show off everything.

ArtPrize 9 officially kicked off on September 20th, with 175 venues hosting art by more than 1,300 artists. Prizes will be awarded October 8th for the best pieces in the following categories: two-dimensional, three-dimensional, installation and time-based. One winner in each category is chosen by public vote, while another is chosen by a panel of jurors. This one-of-a-kind art competition continues to bring in artistic talent from around the world, and transform downtown Grand Rapids into a hub of culture and activity for a few weeks each fall.

Some of the venues we would recommend visiting include the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum Grand Rapids Art Museum, UICA, Frederik Meijer Gardens and Sculpture Park, Grand Rapids Public Museum, The B.O.B., DeVos Place Convention Center, Amway Grand Plaza Hotel, J.W. Marriott Hotel, the pedestrian bridges over the Grand River, and the Calder Plaza.
