Reany Falls – A Roadside Waterfall in Marquette County
We recently showcased a photo gallery of Marqette County’s waterfalls, and today we give a little more love and attention to one of the easier ones to get to: Reany Falls. This waterfall is located just off the side of the road right by the parking area for Dead River Falls, which gives you a chance to see a couple waterfalls at one time in one place.
Reany Falls isn’t going to blow anyone away with its size or power, but what it lack in those respects it makes up for with its surroundings. Reany Creek makes a three-pronged split as it falls a few feet between the rock walls that surround it here, before continuing downstream gradually and passing under the Forestville Rd. In the fall the creek is littered with colorful leaves from surrounding trees, and the same large tree trunk has been draped over the falls for all of our last few visits.
Directions: From US-41 on the west side of Marquette, turn north on CR-492/Wright St. Take a quick right then head left on Forestville Rd. Stay on this road for about two miles and follow it to the parking area at the powerhouse and the sign for Dead River Falls. Backtrack your route in to the bridge just before the parking area, Reany Falls will be visible from the bridge.
