Spring Grove Park in Grandville: Perfect for Family Fun and Summer Weddings

Spring Grove Park Sign Ottawa County Michigan

The Ottawa County Parks system manages 28 parks and 12 recreation areas. Despite living one county over, we are still working on visiting and exploring all of these wonderful parks. One of the most recent parks we visited for the first time is Spring Grove Park in Grandville, a 16-acre paradise that features tall trees, an artesian spring, trails, a wooded picnic area, a playground and more. Located just a couple miles from both M-6 and I-196, this park is quiet and easy to find. Today we will take a look at what this park has to offer and share a few photos from our visit.

Some of the first things you’ll notice when pulling into the parking lot are the tall trees and the picnic building. This indoor facility can be rented out for gatherings (as can the Wedding Trellis that we’ll get to in a minute). A trail that heads behind the building follows a small creek and leads to an artesian spring which gives the park its name. There are many wildflowers along this path and it is a great spot to look for frogs and other wildlife. The Wedding Trellis near this path is a popular spot for summer nuptials.

The southern part of the park is very well shaded and offers many great picnic spots. There are a lot of picnic tables up by the picnic building and even more spread throughout the park. Horseshoe pits offer a great activity during a relaxing visit.

The playground has newer equipment and looked incredibly well maintained. Kids will enjoy the swings and slides here. A bike path runs the length of Greenly Street between here and 24th Ave to the west.

We visited on a very warm August day and were surprised to not find many people at this amazing park. The walk along the stream was very peaceful and scenic, the artesian spring was very cool to see, and the overall cleanliness and great upkeep of the park made for a great visit! We will definitely be back to visit again soon and can’t wait to see what this park looks like with fall color. Check out the map below to find your way to Spring Grove Park:
