LEGOLAND Discovery Center Michigan unveiled their replica of the GM Renaissance Center for the center’s MINILAND, featuring replicas of key metro Detroit attractions. This building was unveiled at the North American International Auto Show. The replica is six feet by six feet and stands more than six feet tall. The GM Renaissance Center came in first place in a user poll for the top Detroit landmark. The other nine finalists will also be built and make up the attraction’s MINILAND.

  • Comerica Park
  • Uniroyal World’s Largest Tire
  • Michigan Central Station
  • The Heidelberg Project

Helping create MINILAND replicas and other LEGO creations for LEGOLAND Discovery Center Michigan will be Clint Parry, who won the Master Model Builder competition. Parry, an Ohio resident, beat out more than 100 competitors in a grueling two day competition across several timed competitions to build LEGO creations. Parry receives a full time salary position. His main tasks will be maintaining and updating MINLAND models, and developing new features and exhibitions. Parry had this to say of winning the competition, “I have loved building with LEGO bricks for as long as I can remember, and I am so excited to make this passion my career. My hope is to inspire children to build anything they can dream up.” Now if we can just convince Parry to build a replica of the Mackinac Bridge.
