Munising Tourist Park Campground – Stunning Lake Superior Views Close To Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore

Munising Tourist Park Campground Sign

In our travels around the state, we’ve camped at many state parks and private campgrounds. From time to time, we will be sharing some of our favorite campgrounds – these are not paid advertisements but are our recommendations and reviews based on positive experiences. One of our favorite campgrounds in the Upper Peninsula is Munising Tourist Park Campground in Munising, which offers great sites for tents or RVs and showcases stunning Lake Superior sunsets. Its close proximity to the western end of the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore has also always been a positive for us, and it is a very short drive back into Munising along M-28 should you need any of the modern conveniences offered in town.

Camp Sites Munising Michigan

Recent upgrades have dramatically improved the showers and restrooms, and for those who want to be able to share vacation pictures with those back home, strong and reliable wifi is available. There are 127 total sites, and 78 of those have water and electric hookups. 26 sites feature water, electric and sewer hookups. There are also 23 rustic tent sites and some overflow sites. Prices vary from $25 to $39 per night, which is on par with what you would pay to stay in a state park.

Our preferred sites are those right next to the beach on Lake Superior, with a stunning view of Grand Island (1-13, 72-80, 88-100). For those who have sites elsewhere in the park, there is a picnic area between these sites with access to the beach. If things work out, this can be a great spot to catch a stunning sunset. The views here are fantastic no matter what, and the sound of gentle waves hitting the shore at night makes it very easy to fall asleep.
