Morgan Meadows Falls Marquette Michigan 2

The greater Marquette area in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula is a fantastic spot for waterfall enthusiasts, as more than 20 sets of falls in the area offer scenic views. Morgan Meadows Falls is one of the area’s smaller waterfalls, but what it lacks in size it make up for with its scenic setting and relative ease of access. This five foot drop on Morgan Creek is located upstream from the more frequently visited Morgan Falls and is worth the visit for any waterfall enthusiast that is in the area to visit Dead River Falls, Yellow Dog Falls, Warner Falls, or Black River Falls.

Morgan Meadows Falls Upper Falls

A short drive south of Marquette and a brief trek down a two-track dirt road leads to a small parking area, and a well-worn walking path covers the short distance to the falls. The shallow creek with a sandy bottom makes a sharp bend here and the water is forced over and through blocky rocks as it continues its journey. With the exception of a small drop just above the main falls, Morgan Creek is calm and smooth above and below the falls. This was a beautiful and quiet spot just a few miles from town, and I’m glad we were finally able to track this waterfall down. Bring bug spray when you visit as the mosquitoes seem to also be fans of this waterfall!

Morgan Meadows Falls Marquette Dirt Road

From the junction of U.S. 41 and CR-492 in Marquette, head south on CR-492 for a little over three miles. Turn left on CR-HQ (signed as Morgan Meadows Rd., then immediately take the first two-track on the left. You will be on this two-track for 3/4 mile and other than a few wet spots we saw no issues for most cars to make it to the parking area. The parking area is just after a culvert and is on the right hand side, you will be able to hear Morgan Meadows Falls when you park. Phil Stagg’s book Waterfalls of Michigan (Book 2) was helpful in finding this one for us.
