The Upper Peninsula might be one of the last places you’d expect to find a zoo that features tigers, bears and more – but GarLyn Zoo is one of several successful wildlife parks north of the Mackinac Bridge. We recently posted about our visit to this family-friendly zoo, and today we’ll show off a few more photos from that trip. In addition to the tigers and bears Garlyn Zoo features chances to get up close and personal with llamas, alpacas, peacocks, tortoises, alligators, sitka deer, cougars, porcupines and many more animals. Seeing Millie the Syrian brown bear and King the rescue dog interact together (shown above) was one of the highlights of our visit. Head over to http://www.garlynzoo.com/ for more information on hours and admission.

GarLyn Zoo is located near Naubinway, about an hour drive west of St. Ignace. It’s right off of US-2, has plenty of parking, and offers a unique animal viewing experience. The zoo does a great job of keeping its Facebook page updated with animal photos and videos, be sure to check it out before you visit!
