Great Turtle Kayak of Mackinac Island Finishes 2nd in Best Kayak Tours
We recently told readers that two Michigan kayak companies were up for a user poll from 10Best, a USA Today company. The poll selected 20 kayak tours from across the country to compete for the honor of “Best Kayaking Tour”.
We are happy to report that both Michigan companies finished in the top ten, with Great Turtle Kayak Tours finishing in second place. Pictured Rocks Kayaking in Munising finished in 6th place.
Great Turtle Kayak Tours lost out on top honors to Rising Tide Explorers, a Florida kayak tour. Rising Tide prides itself with certified local biologists leading every tour. The tours take kayakers through Naples and Marco Island searching for Florida wildlife and to enjoy birdwatching.

Great Turtle has been around for over 20 years. The company offers kayakers the chance to paddle through the Straits of Mackinac. They also offer trips to Round Island and Bois Blanc Island.

Great Turtle’s Facebook page posted the following about their second place finish:

Great Turtle has won numerous awards and is among the best rated Michigan vacations ideas. The company ranks number one for Mackinac Island and the entire Upper Peninsula on TripAdvisor. Of the 418 ratings on TripAdvisor, 406 of them rank Great Turtle all five stars.
When we previously wrote about the 10Best poll, Great Turtle was already in second place. Pictured Rocks Kayaking was in 10th place. The company, which offers four to five hours kayak tours and launches directly from a boat, made up some ground to come in 6th place.
