Lewis Adventure Farm & Zoo New Era Michigan Family Fun

There’s still time to visit Lewis Adventure Farm & Zoo this fall to make lasting memories with your family as you see the animals, check out the games and rides, and grab some donuts and cider at the farm market. We made a trip to the farm earlier this month and were blown away by everything it has to offer. Admission to the farm gets you access to the many games and rides and the chance to see camels, goats, deer, and more in the petting zoo. Other experiences are offered for an additional fee, and we did the Zookeeper Experience which gave us the chance to feed kangaroos, capybaras, and lemurs. Today we will share some pictures from our visit and all the details you need to plan a visit of your own.

Lewis Adventure Farm & Zoo is located in New Era, Michigan just east of U.S. 31. It is about 20 minutes away from Silver Lake Dunes State Park and just over 15 minutes north of the Michigan’s Adventure amusement park. It is typically open from May to October each year, offering different deals for the summer and fall seasons. The current fall season is scheduled to run through October 30.

The first spot we checked out during our visit was the petting zoo. You can purchase a cup of animal feed and get up close and personal with goats, donkeys, alpacas, zebu, miniature horses, fallow deer, camels, and more as you wander around the petting zoo area. Other animals in this section of the farm include prairie dogs, an emu, chickens, ducks, bunnies, peacocks, and wallabies.

We next headed to the exotic animal barn to wait for our animal encounter. In outdoor and indoor exhibit space here you can see coatimundis, kangaroos, capybaras, sloths, tortoises and more. We paid the extra fee to do the Zookeeper experience, which gave us a behind the scenes tour with zookeeper Lori who helped us feed kangaroos and capybaras before making a trip over to the aviary building to feed lemurs. We learned about what the animals eat, how they behave, and what their names are. This was the highlight of our trip and we recommend it for anyone with kids that love animals! Lewis Adventure Farm & Zoo also offers a Sloth Experience, which lets visitors feed its two sloths and get pictures with them.

The farm offers a wide variety of playground equipment and outdoor games for the whole family. Some highlights include the corn palace, bee popper, pedal carts, giant slide, and the apple cannons.

Depending on when you visit, you might catch the sunflower field full of color and ready for photo ops. There are u-pick options for sunflowers and other flowers that allow you to fill up a bucket to take home for a small fee.

We absolutely loved our trip to the Lewis Adventure Farm & Zoo, and it has already been requested by an 11 year old that we make this an annual trip. The pictures below give a better look at what you can expect when you visit:
