Free Petting Zoo and Delicious Ice Cream Will Have You Coming Back to Small Town Mooville Creamery

There’s two big reasons why families with kids will want to head to Mooville Creamery in Nashville, Michigan: ice cream and animals. The small ice cream store makes the perfect visiting spot for families this summer.

Moovile Creamery is the family owned retail business started in 2005. The store is owned by the Westendorp family, which own Westvale-View Dairy Farm. At the farm, the family bottles their own milk, makes ice cream, cheese, butter, smoothies, and other dairy products. No growth hormones are used in any products.

Mooville offers more than 80 flavors of ice cream. The product is made right there at the farm, ensuring a fresh made quality product that you can’t get everywhere. I recently had the How Now Brown Cow flavor, which is a Swiss Miss hot chocolate flavor with marshmallows and chocolate chunks. The creamery also has a Baconator maple flavored ice cream with real pieces of bacon. One of the retailer’s top selling brands is Sea Salt Caramel.

The Mooville Creamery is open Monday through Friday 6:30 am to 10:00 pm and 8am to 10:00 pm Saturdays (Summer Hours). Along with getting Mooville ice cream directly at the creamery, you can also find it at other ice cream stores and retailers, including the West Michigan Whitecap’s Fifth Third Ballpark. The farm and ice cream shop also offer tours for groups and schools during the months of April to September.

Aside from the awesome flavored ice cream, the other highlight is a free petting zoo. Here is a list of animals featured in the petting zoo:

  • Ducks
  • Goats
  • Donkeys
  • Pony
  • Cows
  • Cats
  • Bunnies
  • Sheep
  • Pig

The animals are all fairly close to each other and many come right up to the fence when you approach. It also helps that there is food available to purchase for the animals, which comes in an appropriately fitting ice cream cone. Along with the petting zoo, there is also a large playground structure that is sure to be a kid pleaser.

Winning this award would be nice for Mooville, but certainly not the first press accolades they have gotten. In 2012, Mlive’s John Gonzalez named Mooville the number one ice cream shop in Michigan. Gonzalez toured 29 places across 1500 miles. In that same ranking, House of Flavors came in fifth place.

Mooville was also part of a new Guinness World Record. On May 9th, the city of Nashville, Michigan created the World’s largest ice cream sundae. The sundae stretched 1800 feet across 270 tables. More than 7200 scoops of Mooville ice cream made up the record breaking sundae.
